Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) has announced a free support group for stroke and brain injury survivors, along with their family and caregivers.
The Hope (Help and healing, Outpatient support, Problem solving and Education) Group is put on by the CTMC Rehabilitation Institute and the Institute for Healthy Living.
The support group will meet on the second and fourth Monday of every month in the CTMC Professional Building Conference Room from 3-4:00 p.m. The first meeting will be held on Sept. 13.
The main purpose of the support group is to give the emotional, educational and community resource needs to survivors and their loved ones.
“The support group is designed to facilitate hope and healing with emotional reinforcement in a proactive and supportive forum,” said MeMe Lake, director of CTMC’s Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute.
Symptoms of a stroke include numbness or weakness of the face, arms or legs, especially on one side of the body, severe headache and trouble speaking or seeing.
