Pet Fest slated for September 25

Prevent a Litter (PALS) of Central Texas will hold its eighth annual Pet Fest on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park, 401 East Hopkins Street. The theme for the festival is “PALS Cares — we’re helping people fix their pets.”

The event will feature demos, adoptable pets from shelters and rescues, and vendor and food booths. There will be weenie and chihuahua races, a silent auction and dog washes, as well.

Pet Fest will have a best pet trick contest and several costume contests. The San Marcos Police Department’s K-9 unit will give a demonstration at the event. Entertainment for the day includes the D&D Dancing Dogs and a miniature horse.

Live music will be featured throughout the event. Earlier in the day, a 5K and Fun Run/Dog Jog is planned.

Pet Fest is not only PALS largest fund raising event, but also a way for the organization to generate public awareness for the needs of animals, celebrate pet ownership and promote responsible pet guardianship.
