STAFF REPORT
Citing drying conditions and possible high wind days, Hays County commissioners enacted a burn ban on Aug. 30.
The ban was enacted under the advisement of Hays County Fire Marshal Mark Chambers, who said the chance of serious fires is hightened.
The burn ban restricts all outdoor trash and debris burning within the county. Also, extreme caution should be used with any required vocational fire source activity, such as welding. Residents are advised to always have an ample supply of extinguishing materials on hand for emergencies.
Surrounding counties also under burn bans include Travis, Comal, Blanco and Caldwell. The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice of the commissioner’s court.
