Snodgrass takes post at TAB

Phyllis Snodgrass.

Phyllis Snodgrass, the president of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce has accepted a position with the Texas Association of Business (TAB) as vice president of chamber relations.

The TAB made the announcement Monday in a press release. Snodgrass will begin her new position on Oct. 1 and said she and her family will continue to live in San Marcos.

“I understood that we needed to have an individual who is respected by their chamber peers throughout the state and understands the challenges every chamber exec in Texas faces,” TAB President and CEO Bill Hammond said. “In addition, I was seeking an individual who can represent our organization well throughout Texas, as we seek to improve the economy of our state through a large variety of issues.”

Snodgrass replaces Art Roberts, who is retiring after 20 years with the state chamber of commerce.

Before coming to San Marcos, Snodgrass worked as the chief officer at chambers in Athens and Victoria.

  1. We really appreciate all Phyllis has done while serving as the leader of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce. We are going to miss her in that regards, but at least she will still be a part of the community, just commuting a bit more each day!

  2. I agree Steve. She has been a very effective leader of the CoC for the last few years. I certainly think the CoC is a stronger organization as a result of her efforts, which is consistent with her track record elsewhere. She will be a great asset at the TAB and, more importantly, another good connection for San Marcos at the state level as the Legislature goes into session.

  3. Thank you for your time with the Chamber Phyllis. It was always a pleasure to work with you. I hope Bill Hamond is ready for some creative ideas. I know you’ll have them and they’ll be good.
