Police cordoned off a section of downtown San Marcos shortly after midnight Monday to clean up a wreck that left one vehicle on its side and a man arrested.

A Ford Taurus traveling south on Guadalupe Street ran a red light and slammed into a Jeep Liberty moving westbound on Hopkins Street. A male individual drove the Taurus with no passengers and the Jeep carried only a female driver, who wore her seat belt and was unharmed.

Eyewitnesses said the Taurus seemed to be traveling 55 miles per hour.

A male individual was seen being escorted to a police cruiser in handcuffs as first responders made the area once again fit for through traffic.

Police declined on the matter, beyond saying no one was injured, and first responders were called to the scene of the accident at 12:04 a.m.

Police closed Guadalupe Street at Hutchison Street and blocked off Hopkins Street at Comanche Street and Guadalupe Street for about an hour.

  1. Anyone heard what happened on LBJ on Friday night? I know the AirEvac helicopter was on the ground and I heard various gruesome stories about a kid on a long board, in a solo wreck, or hit by a car. Based on the location and the severity of the reported injuries, it sounds like he must have been hit.
