City schedules public hearings on Paso Robles

SUBMITTED REPORT

The San Marcos City Council will hold the first of several additional public meetings on the proposed annexation of Paso Robles, a 1,340-acre master planned community on Hunter Road on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

The first public hearing on the annexation will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.

A second public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at City Hall on the proposed annexation as well as land use and zoning issues on the gated community project proposed by Carma Developers, Inc.

Mayor Susan Narvaiz, Interim City Manager Laurie Moyer, County Commissioner Will Conley and Carma Developer General Manager Shaun Cranston met Wednesday night (Aug. 18) with about 80 residents of the area for a two and a half hour question and answer session on the planned community.

“We appreciate all the time and effort our Planning & Zoning Commissioners and Parks Board members have devoted to considering this project, as well as the input from friends and neighbors on Wednesday night” said Mayor Susan Narvaiz.

City council will not discuss the subdivision at either of the public hearings, Narvaiz said. Council deliberation is scheduled for Sept. 21, the mayor said.

The city council hearings Aug. 31 will include:

Actions on the proposed development are scheduled for Sept. 21 for the first reading on the annexation ordinance and Oct. 4  for the second reading of the annexation and final consideration on the development agreement, land use amendments and zoning changes.
