City makes route change to accommodate Tax Free Weekend traffic

It’s Texas Tax Free Weekend Friday through Sunday, and large crowds are anticipated to be shopping at the outlet malls for the tax free benefits. With that in mind, the City of San Marcos has changed the routes to the malls to accommodate the expected traffic.

Northbound traffic on Interstate-35 will exit at Centerpoint Road (exit 200). Exit 201 northbound at McCarty Lane will be closed from Friday at noon until Sunday at 6 p.m.

Southbound traffic will exit at McCarty Lane (exit 201). Southbound Exit 200 at Centerpoint Southbound also will be closed during the weekend.

Signs will be in place to direct motorists on both sides of I-35.

Additional San Marcos police officers and fire department personnel will be present at the malls from Friday through Sunday for public safety and first aid.
