Earlier this month, the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Greater San Marcos Youth Council (GSMYC), hosted a “Back to School” luncheon at the City of San Marcos Conference Center. The event was held in conjunction with “Project Stuff the Bus” sponsors Broadway Bank, Central Texas Medical Center, Sac-N-Pac. Wal-Mart, Embassy Suites, and the GSMYC.
“Project Stuff the Bus” is a school supplies drive to equip needy student in San Marcos CISD.
Keynote speaker U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) applauded the efforts of the San Marcos CISD. Superintendent Patty Shafer gave an update on the school district.
School supply donors included Frost Bank, Gary Job Corps, Grande Communications, Sac-N-Pac, Randolph-Brooks, CTMC, McCoy’s, Wal-Mart, Texas State Students Association, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Embassy Suites, Wells-Fargo, CenturyLink, San Marcos Education Foundation, and San Marcos CISD.
