The Hays County Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) is offering a 30-hour Family Law Mediation certificate course for mediators who have completed basic mediation training.
The additional family law training is required by law to mediate cases involving children and parents, such as divorce and suits affecting parent-child relationships.
Instructors will include local family law attorneys, social workers from Texas State faculty and the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services and trainers from the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center. The instruction will include a panel discussion with local judiciary who hear family law cases.
The DRC is a non-profit organization that facilitates problem-solving for individuals and organizations in Hays County by providing, promoting and teaching effective methods of conflict resolution. The DRC is open to private mediations and referrals from courts.
The class will begin on Thursday. Classroom instruction will take place during evenings and daytime through Aug. 28 at the DRC office, 829 North LBJ Drive, No. 108, San Marcos.
