STAFF REPORT

Volunteers for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Central Texas were recently sworn in by Comal County District Judge Karin Bonicoro. The volunteers, who have now finished their training, will be assigned to children who have been removed from their homes and placed in the court system because of abuse and neglect.

The newly trained volunteers include Amelia Glasby, Anna Valdez  and Carlos Laird of Hays County and  Yvonne LeBlanc and Bob Williams of Comal County.

As child advocates, the volunteers will familiarize themselves with the people in a child’s life and speak up for the children in court, advocating for their best interests.

CASA of Central Texas, Inc. advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system by recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers in Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties.

New CASA classes are starting soon, and those wishing to volunteer to be a child’s advocate may contact CASA training coordinator Debbie Haynes at (512) 392 -3578, or visit www.casacentex.org.
