The City of San Marcos will host an open house 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 at the Activity Center to give citizens an opportunity to comment on the qualities they would like to see in a city manager.
The event will be held in Rooms 1 & 2 at the Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins and will be a “come and go” event hosted by a facilitator. Residents may also email their comments to firstname.lastname@example.org starting today through 5 p.m. on Aug. 6.
At a special meeting on Wednesday, the city council chose a search firm to handle the search although officials have declined to say which firm they chose. The request for proposals for a search firm reportedly specifies a 60-day time frame for choosing a new city manager, putting a selection some time before the Nov. 2 election.
The city council voted 4-3 on June 24 to fire Rick Menchaca as city manager.
Citizen comments will be used in formulating the profile that will be used to recruit candidates for the city manager position, city officials said.
