STAFF REPORT

Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson will hold a “Budget Talk” town hall meeting on Aug. 4 from 7-9 p.m. at Kyle City Hall to discuss the Fiscal Year 2011 budget with citizens.

Johnson said she is calling the meeting to involve the public in the city’s budget process. The mayor said she urges anyone wishing to voice their concerns over property taxes, city debt and the availability of city services to attend and participate.

“Since my first meeting as Mayor on March 3, council chambers have been filled with residents eager to get involved and have their voices heard,” Johnson said. “I am eager to encourage this process to continue, and I look forward to hearing the public’s concerns about our upcoming budget.”

Since Johnson’s election in February, the city has passed its first ever budget policy statement and created a small business committee and a charter review commission. The city also has negotiated a three-year meet and confer agreement with city police officers and formed a committee to seek a new city manager to replace Tom Mattis, who resigned in April.

Residents interested in reviewing the proposed FY 2011 budget can access it at the city’s website, www.cityofkyle.com.
