Milt’s Pit BBQ in Kyle recently was recognized by Bucky and Bob of KVET-FM (98.1). Milt’s took fourth place in a vote for the top five barbecue in Central Texas taken by the radio personalities.
The top five included Inman’s Kitchen in Llano, Ronnie’s in Johnson City, Mann’s in Austin, and Cooper’s in Llano.
The ‘Best BBQ in Central Texas’ ran for the entire month of April and halfway into May. In the beginning, only a few restaurants were listed. As word spread that Bucky and Bob were out to find the best of the best, many people started calling in with nominations. The list grew to seventy-seven barbeque restaurants.
Towards the end of April, and after more than 10,000 votes were tallied, the first round was over and the restaurants were narrowed down to the top ten, which included Milt’s. During the next couple of weeks, the top ten restaurants received another 10,000-plus votes to produce the top five list.
Milt’s, located at 905 Old North Highway 81 on the west side of Interstate-35 just north of downtown Kyle, includes on its menu slow smoked brisket, ribs, turkey and sausage. The menu also includes homemade sides such potato salad, coleslaw, bbq ranch beans, and green beans. Other items on the menu are a “Haystack” (BBQ frito pie) and a homemade peach cobbler.
