STAFF REPORT

One of the highlights of the San Marcos Summerfest celebration on the Fourth of July is the Children’s Parade and Costume Contest. This year’s contest featured a charming group of young citizens decked out in their red, white and blue finery.

While each participant was congratulated, some costumes merited a special prize. The Best All-Around costume went to Koryn SiddiQui of Kyle, whose costume was replete with the necessary Texas footwear of cowboy boots.

A judges special award went to Hannah Skaggs, Belle Philpott and Ann-Ellise Phinney, a trio from Lubbock. The “Cutest” award was handily won by the curly locks of Eva Lagreca from Oklahoma. First runner-up for “Cutest” was little Savannah Schneider of Pasadena. Second runner-up for “Cutest” was Issac Gibbs of Kyle.

Emmilynn Ramirez of Corpus Christi captivated the judges with her charming outfit and walked away hands-down with the “Most Patriotic” award. Ellie Payne of New Braunfels was chosen as first runner up in the “Most Patriotic” category, and Kaylie Jurgens, also of New Braunfels, received the second runner-up prize.

All winners received a prize basket and a certificate.
