San Marcos High School Principal Michelle Darling will attend the Harvard Leadership Summer Institute.
San Marcos High School (SMHS) Principal Michelle Darling has been selected to attend the Raise Your Hand Texas (RYHT) Harvard Leadership Summer Institute from June 27-July 2, in Boston.
More than 250 applicants vied for 100 spots at the event. Raise Your Hand Texas, an educational support group, will cover the cost of Darling’s tuition, travel, and room and board while providing a daily stipend.
The RYHT Harvard Leadership Program provides professional development to 100 Texas principals each summer, giving them opportunities to work with renowned educators from across the country and top national and international experts in the field of education.
“Redesigning High Schools for Improved Instruction,” the session that Darling will attend, deals with the theories, knowledge, practices, and tools necessary to redesign high schools to become more powerful learning environments.
“We are confident that Michelle Darling will represent SMCISD well and benefit greatly from the high caliber of learning she will receive at Harvard this summer,” said Patty Shafer, San Marcos CISD Superintendent of Schools.
Raise Your Hand Texas is a non-profit bipartisan advocacy group. Its 25,000 members consist of business and community leaders, parents, and citizens with the focus of supporting the students and staff of the Texas public school system.
The Harvard Graduate School of Education offers programs through its summer institute series in its Principal’s Center, which provides school leaders all over the world with professional training.Email | Print
