In “Three Acts of Deception”, the Second Act Troupe will present three comic one-act plays one June 4, 5 and 6 at the Price Seniors Center, 222 West San Antonio Street. A delightful new addition to the usual optional dinner performances is the optional Sunday afternoon tea performance on June 6.

The three plays all deal with secrets and little white lies that emerge in amusing and surprising ways. In “Book Keeping,” starring the formidable talents of Allan Eastwood and Ellen Massey, a wife discovers that her husband has kept a little black book listing the names and physical attributes of 48 women.  You’ll have to see the play to find out why.

Crossing the Bar involves the surprise announcement, during a funeral parlor eulogy, about the relationship of a deceased fellow to two admirers. The apt talents of Maggie Goodman, Carla Daws and Marvin Carson are featured.

George Bernard Shaw’s amusing “How He Lied To Her Husband,” starring Larry Oliver, Bobbie Oliver and and Dan LaFleur, deals with a husband’s very unusual reaction to the discovery of love poems written by an admirer to his wife. Shaw’s acrid wit is in full force in this play. It is worth noting that Bobbie Oliver is Austin’s B. Iden Payne award winner for best actress.

Tickets for the the performances with dinner on Friday and Saturday are $22. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance on SUnday with afternoon tea are $18. The teas will be served at intermission. Tickets for the performances alone are $12.

Attendees may bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner performances. Coffee and dessert is served at intermission. Coffee can usually be purchased by non-dinner attendees at that time, as well.

Reservations for dinner and tea are required. Tickets and reservations can be obtained by calling (512) 618-3355 any time.

The Second Act Troupe is a division of the San Marcos Performing Arts Association.
