The Texas State softball team split a double-header Friday night at Texas-San Antonio (UTSA), setting up the rubber game of the three-game series Saturday in San Antonio.
The series will end Saturday with that final game at 1 p.m.
The Bobcats lost Friday’s opener, 3-1, as UTSA’s Emily Humphal outdueled Texas State’s Chandler Hall. A two-run single by UTSA’s Kristin Kappler in the sixth inning gave the Roadrunners a 3-0 lead. The Bobcats could score only once in the seventh inning.
Texas State needed extra innings to win the second game, 6-4, in ten innings. Shelby Carnline hit a two-run double in the tenth to knock in the winning runs.
The Bobcats lead the Southland Conference at 17-6 in the league and 22-20 overall. UTSA is 13-13 and 21-27.Email | Print
