College Dems to host barbecue for candidates


Lieutenant Governor candidate Linda Chavez-Thompson will be at the fourth annual Texas State College Democrats Picnic Saturday.


The Texas State College Democrats  will hold their fourth annual Barbecue Picnic on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hays County Courthouse. The free event will introduce the democratic ticket to residents of San Marcos and Hays County.

Guests expected to attend include U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), Lieutenant Governor candidate Linda Chavez-Thompson, Railroad Commissioner candidate Jeff Weems, Land Commissioner candidate Hector Uribe and Third Court of Appeals Judge candidate Kurt Kuhn.

Other candidates in attendance will be State Board of Education candidate Rebecca Bell-Metereau, 428th District Court Judge candidate Scot Courtney, Hays County Judge candidate Jeff Barton (D-Kyle), Hays County Commissioner candidate Ray Bryant (D-Kyle) and representatives from the Bill White for Governor campaign.

Hays County Sheriff Tommy Ratliff and Precinct 4 County Commissioner Karen Ford (D-Dripping Springs) also will attend.

Live music at the event will be provided by HalleyAnna Finlay. Free Barbecue brisket will be supplied by Hays County Precinct 1 Constable David Peterson.

Games and activities are also planned for the kids.
