Bobcat Field — both of them — will be busy Wednesday night with big events for the Texas State baseball and softball teams.
The softball team is playing Houston (6 p.m.) in the annual Pink Game to benefit breast cancer research. The Bobcats will warm up in pink shirts to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
Members of the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas and the Susan G. Komen foundation will be on hand. Tables will be set up outside the stands to provide wrist bands, pamphlets and other information on breast cancer.
Anyone wishing to donate to the cause is encouraged to make a flat donation at any of the designated tables. All donations collected will help benefit breast cancer research.
In support of the cause, any fans that attend the game wearing pink will receive a discounted admission ticket price of $2.
The Bobcats are 21-18 entering the game, while Houston is 23-21.
The Texas State baseball team is playing Baylor (6:30 p.m.) in another midweek game designed to establish credibility with the NCAA Tournament selection committee. The Bobcats have lost both of their meetings this year against Baylor.
The Bobcats are 5-7 this year in their games against Texas teams from the Big 12, Conference-USA or the Mountain West Conference. Three of the losses were by one run.
Texas State is 21-13 overall this season. Baylor is 21-14.
Charles Austin Drive from Hopkins Street to the railroad tracks is closed Wednesday from noon to 11 p.m. to accommodate the events.Email | Print
