STAFF REPORT

The Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) will honor administrative professionals at its monthly luncheon on April 27.

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to bring their staffs to the luncheon for a chef-created meal from the Inn Above Onion Creek and a gift bag containing Mary Kay Cosmetics and other goodies for each honoree.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants work as secretaries and administrative assistants, and 8.9 million people work in various administrative support roles. Millions of administrative professionals work in offices all over the world.

The keynote address will be given by CJ Legare, who owns and operates a boutique consultancy, Power Pinc, out of Kyle.

Legare was born in Tacoma, WA, spent her childhood traveling the globe as an Air Force brat, studied theatre in college, became the first plus-size model signed to Elite Model Management’s Miami division and spent her early twenties working as an actress and model in South Florida and Los Angeles. Her client list included JC Penney, Sears, Macy’s, Dillards, Ralph Lauren, Bealls and Greyhound.

At 24, Legare began a new career traveling the country as a mobile marketing tour manager. She managed large-scale campaigns for clients like SONY, Verizon Wireless, Bank of America and Just My Size.

After almost four years on the road, she and her husband Josh moved to Kyle in 2007 and she started Power Pinc, specializing in wardrobe and interior spaces. Her company motto is “Let Us Style Your Life.”

Legare’s practical life and style tips are found in her monthly column, Functional Girl, which runs in two local publications.

Legare is a member of KACC, works with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization and serves as a board member for Hope & Love 4 Kids.

“The most profound challenge you will ever overcome, as business owner and as a human being, is your hesitancy to believe in the great possibilities of declaring yourself unapologetically to the world,” Legare said.

The luncheon will be held at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (979 Kohler’s Crossing in Kyle) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsored by the Inn Above Onion Creek. The cost with a reservation is $10 for KACC members and $15 for non-members.
