The employees at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center initiated a novel way to generate funds for the San Marcos Education Foundation (SMEF). They wear blue jeans.

Once per month, employees can choose to wear jeans for a day in exchange for a small donation to the SMEF fund.

“Our employees came up with the idea and decided that they wanted their contributions to go the foundation,” said Embassy Suites General Manager Tom Pugh. “We are planning to do this once a month so that we can do our part to support the teachers and students of San Marcos.”

The San Marcos Education Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that provides financial support and assistance to San Marcos CISD in the form of scholarships and educational programs and activities not covered by the district’s budget. For more information on SMEF, visit or call (512) 393-6930.
