Rotary wine tasting slated for April 24

The Rotary Club of San Marcos will host “A Toast To Education,” its fifth annual wine tasting, with the proceeds going to a scholarship fund and other Rotary educational programs. The event will be held at the Burdick Estate grounds, 1112 Belvin Street, from 6-9 p.m. on April 24.

“We invite members of the  San Marcos area community to come and enjoy a night of fun and relaxation, while benefiting the children in our community,” said Sammy Falleta, Rotary Club of San Marcos president.

The evening will include a raffle and a silent auction. Music will be supplied by jazz band Albanie & her Fellas.

The Rotary Club’s scholarship fund awards scholarships to local seniors who will attend college or vocational school, and students with dyslexia. Other Rotary educational programs include the First Knight/Early Act program and the Rotary Youth Exchange program.

The annual wine tasting event has traditionally garnered a large turnout. Last year’s attendance was nearly 300 guests. The Rotary is expecting 400 or more this year.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available online by visiting For more information on the event, call (512) 738-0086.

  1. Very nice idea and follow through. We’re starting to work with a few charitable donations to run wine tastings to attempt to support local schools, libraries and students. 300-400 people is an outstanding turn out, I hope the event continues to grow over time!
