City seeks arts peer review panelists

STAFF REPORT

The City of San Marcos Arts Commission is seeking nominations for individuals to serve as peer review panelists to assist the commission in evaluating applications for arts funding. Nominations may be made by any arts organization or individual. Interested parties may also nominate themselves.

The city’s peer review panel will be required to read funding applications, take part in a public review session and score applicants based on criteria already established for the grants.

Panelists are selected based on their professional qualifications and broad knowledge of the arts. Nominees should be able to work well with people in a group situation and have a working knowledge of non-profit and business practices.

The city also selects panelists with a focus on minority representation and a representation of a cross section from various arts and cultural disciplines and cultural organization group structures. This includes board members administrative managers, artistic directors, education specialists and the like.

An application form is available at sanmarcostx.gov/arts. The deadline to apply is April 30. For more information, call Lisa Morris at (512) 393-8409, or contact her by email at lmorris@sanmarcostx.gov.
