Local ‘celebrity’ car wash benefit on Saturday


Local politicians and business leaders will participate in a ‘celebrity’ car wash benefiting the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center on Saturday, March 27.

Conley Car Wash & Express Lube will donate 15 percent of every car wash and detail between 10 a.m .and 3 p.m. to the women’s center. The center’s programs include 24-hour crisis response, a shelter, counseling, support groups, children’s advocacy (Roxanne’s House).

Guest car washers include District Attorney Sherri Tibbe, Mayor Susan Narvaiz, city council member Kim Porterfield, Assistant Police Chief Lisa Dvorak, San Marcos Parks & Rec director Rodney Cobb, Century Link operations manager John Navarette, Frost National Bank San Marcos President John Schott, City Manager Rick Menchaca, District Clerk Cecilia Adair, artist-author-trainer Ros Hill, Root Cellar Cafe owner Kyle Myleus, Olympic gold medalist Charles Austin, Sheriff Tommy Ratliff, community leader Liz Tuttle, school board president Judy Allen and Hays County Commissioner Karen Ford.

In addition, the benefit is seling tickets to win one-year basic car wash membership to Conley Car Wash for $5 or $8 for two. The drawing will be at 5:30 p.m. and the winner does not have to be present to claim the prize.
