Two San Marcos High School (SMHS) Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets have been selected to attend summer Aerospace and Technology Camps. Mercedes Mendoza and Adam Reynolds were chosen recently by a selection board at the headquarters of the Air Force JROTC at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL.
Mendoza will attend the honors camp at Oklahoma University. Reynolds will go to the honors camp in New Mexico. According to the Air Force JROTC selection board, being chosen for the honors camp places the two students in the top one-half of one percent of more than 110,000 Air Force JROTC cadets in the nation.
They will spend one week at the honors camps, where they will engage in hands-on curriculum activities and visit operational Air Force units, research labs, historical sites and aerospace industries.
San Marcos High School’s previous honors camp honorees include Greg Byrne, Kaitlin Davis and Gaby Alvarez.
