Mathworks gets grant from Epsilon Fund
The Mathworks program at Texas State has received a grant from the American Mathematical Society Epsilon Fund to facilitate scholarships for the 2010 Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC).
The grant will enable interested students, regardless of their financial circumstances, to attend the six-week program.
This is the ninth in a series of grants to HSMC from the Epsilon Fund. The fund awards up to $15,000 in support of programs for talented high school students. Receiving the awards this year were nine other programs putting HSMC in the company of grantees Stanford and MIT.
The annual summer math camp is an intensive program offering challenging courses for high school students gifted in math. The camp will be held June 20-July 31 this year.
Texas State’s innovative center for mathematics education, Mathworks, has numerous outreach programs and summer math camps which employs both students and faculty in devising programs to engage Texas students in high level mathematics.
