The first game of the district season isn’t always the biggest game of the year, but it might go down that way for the San Marcos High School baseball team, which sneaked away Wednesday night with a 3-2 win against local power Hays.
San Marcos ace Blake Bagley struck out ten in six innings, during which he allowed six hits. Ryan Schweers pitched the seventh inning for San Marcos to earn the save.
The victory raised the Rattlers to 10-8 overall and 1-0 in the district, with a big road win against Hays in their pocket. The Rebels are 9-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the district.
Isiah Cantu homered in the fourth inning for San Marcos, which later broke a 2-2 tie with the winning run in the sixth inning.
Sam Breyfogle took the loss for Hays.
The Rattlers will be at home Friday night against Lockhart.Email | Print
