The Texas State football team will hold its annual Maroon vs. Gold scrimmage Saturday at 6:45 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium.
Admission is free. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. on the west side of the stadium. The university’s athletic department encourages fans to tailgate in the parking lot before the scrimmage.
The scrimmage will last 75-90 minutes, with the first team offenses and defenses going against each other in a controlled scrimmage with game officials. The ball will be placed at different positions on the field with the offense trying to score in a standard four-down format. When the offense scores or is forced to punt, the second team offense will run against the second team defense.
The Bobcats return 42 lettermen after finishing 7-4 in 2009 to finish ranked 25th in the final Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) polls. Of the returning lettermen, 20 are on offense and 18 are on defense.
The Bobcats will finish their spring drills on March 26. The 2010 season will open on Sept. 4 at Houston.Email | Print
