The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce will host its first ever Green Living Showcase at the City of San Marcos Conference Center on March 20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event is a day of exhibitors and speakers who will provide attendees with information on going towards a “greener” future. The day will feature tips on green building, energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, commuting solutions, alternative energy and earth friendly products. Admission is free and open to the public.
Vendors will demonstrate green products and present exhibits and workshops that promote a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Green Guy Recycling, Burleson Design Group, and Heritage Tree Care are a few of the dozens of exhibitors on board.
Speakers include “Mr. Smarty Plants,” whom readers of the Austin Chronicle Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center website know is an enigmatic and knowledgeable figure in the gardening community who keeps his identity a secret. What is not a secret is his formidable knowledge of native plants. He (or she?) will speak at the showcase on this subject at 12:45 p.m. and again at 2:15 p.m.
Other speakers include Eric Beckers from the Texas Forest Service, Malcom Beck the founder of Garden-Ville, Chris Maxwell Gains of Innovative Water Solutions and Diane Gonzales from PEC, just to name a few. For a full listing of speakers and their topics, go to www.glshowcase.com/.
“We believe that the showcase will not only provide an excellent marketing and networking opportunity for those members who wish to be exposed to a larger audience and are looking for ways to incorporate sustainability into their lifestyles, but it will also demonstrate San Marcos’ commitment to quality of life enhancements that will attract new residents and businesses looking at the I-35 Corridor,” said Clay DeStefano, Chair of the chamber’s natural resources committee.
