Stoney LaRue will play at Bobcat Stadium Thursday for Stelos Alliance.
The Stelos Alliance Scholarship Foundation will host a benefit concert on Thureday at 7 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. The event, the “Big Central Spring Break Concert,” is designed to benefit scholarships as it entertains audiences.
Kicking off what is hoped to be a concert series are the celebrated contemporary Red Dirt musicians, Stoney LaRue and the Arsenals. The Midnight River Choir opens for LaRue.
“During these economic times, you have to offer your supporters value for their dollar,” said Stelos Alliance Vice President, Melinda Keller. “Concert goers get a great, affordable, entertainment experience and help us fund scholarships at the same time. This is a win-win for the community and our organization.”
Proceeds from the event will support college scholarships and a new Earl Moseley Fund. A rally for Moseley, the late Texas State activities coordinator who died last week, will take place during intermission.
The concert is open to the public. Tickets to the event are $12 pre-concert and $13 at the door. Any guest aged 16 and younger must be accompanied by a parent.
The Stelos Alliance is named for the Esperanto word “stelo” meaning star, mixed with telos, Greek for “purpose” or “goal.” For more information on Stelos, visit stelos.org.
