Mayor plans two more sessions on economic development

Mayor Susan Narvaiz invites the public to attend two additional public forums to hear about economic development, community redevelopment and the status of Springtown Center.

The next session will be held Sunday, March 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mariposa Apartment Homes, 2600 Hunter Road. The third event will be Tuesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at the Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.

“The first session last week attracted lots of interest,” said Mayor Narvaiz. “I am pleased that our citizens are engaged in these important issues and care about the City Council’s goals to strengthen economic development and job creation in our community.”

Mayor Narvaiz held the first session on Saturday, Feb. 27 in the City Council chambers at City Hall and drew a capacity crowd.

The additional briefings will include information on past economic development initiatives, what redevelopment involves and Springtown Center proposals.

The meetings have been posted by the City Clerk for a potential City Council quorum. No action will be taken at the sessions.
