The Texas State football team will play nine of its 11 games within the boundaries of Texas, according to the 2010 schedule announced Tuesday.
For the sixth consecutive year, the Bobcats will play six home games, though the home schedule is front loaded with three games in September, two in October and the last on Nov. 6.
“The 2010 season is going to be an exciting year for Bobcat fans,” said Texas State athletic director Larry Teis. “We play a quality FBS school and have six home games for the sixth consecutive year. We also play nine of our 11 games in the State of Texas, giving our fans the opportunity to follow the Bobcats.”
The schedule will start on Sept. 4 with a road game at Houston. Then, the Bobcats play three straight home games — against Southern Arkansas on Sept. 11 (6 p.m.), against California Polytechnic on Sept. 18 (6 p.m.) and against Southern Utah on Sept. 25 (6 p.m.).
The Bobcats will take the next week off, then go to Southeastern Louisiana on Oct. 9 to start the Southland Conference schedule. Texas State then will return home against Nicholls State on Oct. 16 (6 p.m.) and against Northwestern State on Oct. 23 (3 p.m.).
After the Bobcats go to Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 30, they will return to Bobcat Stadium for their final home game of the season on Nov. 6 against Central Arkansas (3 p.m.).
Texas State will finish out the season at McNeese State on Nov. 13 and at Sam Houston State on Nov. 20.
The Bobcats finished 2009 with a 7-4 record, their second straight winning season. They also finished in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Top 25 for the second straight year.Email | Print
