DeZavala and Bowie honored for achievments

Two San Marcos CISD elementary schools, Bowie Elementary School and DeZavala Elementary School were recently recognized by the San Marcos City Council for their recent achievements. Bowie and DeZavala were both honored by the No Child Left Behind program.

DeZavala Elementary School Principal Dolores Cruz was presented with an educational achievement award by Mayor Susan Narvaiz after the school won honors for the No Child Left Behind Division for Distinguished Academic Performance and serving as a model Title I Campus helping at-risk students.

Narvaiz presented an educational achievement award to Bowie Principal Karen McGowan after the school won honors for the 2009 national Just for Kids Campaign for Higher Performing Schools and the No Child Left Behind Program.
