Struggling offensively, the Texas State baseball team managed only five hits in a 4-3 loss to Western Kentucky Saturday in the QTI Baylor Classic in Waco.
Lee Colon was something of a hard luck losing pitcher for Texas State. With the game tied, 2-2, going to the eighth inning, Colon got one hitter out, gave up an infield single and allowed a walk before leaving the game with runners on first and second. Fielding Pittman came in for Texas State and walked two hitters, forcing in a run. Then, Covey Morrow came in and walked one hitter, forcing in another run and giving Western Kentucky a 4-2 lead.
Kyle Livingston doubled to lead off the bottom of the eighth for Texas State, later scoring on a ground out. But the Bobcats could mount no further offense.
Texas State will finish the tournament at 5 p.m. Sunday against Texas A&M. The Bobcats are 3-2 overall.
Texas State will play its home opener Wednesday at Bobcat Field against Rice (6:30 p.m.).Email | Print
