San Marcos High School (SMHS) Principal Michelle Darling was honored by the San Marcos City Council recently after the school won recognition from the National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) in the 2009 Just for the Kids campaign with its advances in social studies education.

The Just For the Kids Higher Performing School Lists feature schools that  grow their students’ academic performances more than students of demographically similar schools. The list also includes schools where student academic performance, measured by state standardized testing, meets NCEA’s College and Career Readiness (CCR) targets.
