Texas State University’s Merge Dance Company will host internationally recognized dance company Lux Boreal for a performance of “Del Otro Lado” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in Evans Auditorium at Texas State University.
Admission will be free thanks to support from Texas State’s Equity & Access Committee and the San Marcos Arts Commission.
A joint effort by the Department of Theatre and Dance and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, “Del Otro Lado” will treat attendees to a “multimedia immersion” featuring a wide range of styles and themes. With both light and dramatic pieces, the event will also showcase choreography by guest dance company Lux Boreal, of Mexico.
Based in Tijuana, Lux Boreal was founded in 2002 by students in the School of Contemporary Dance of Mazatlan. The company has since performed in a number of shows and has garnered both critical and popular acclaim.
“Del Otro Lado” will be the premiere of the recently formed Merge Dance Company, a Texas State group which hopes to gain recognition for the Department of Theatre and Dance’s new bachelor of fine arts major in dance.
