Patrick Rose has a lot of potential as a leader. It’s too bad he does not use it for the community good. Unfortunately, Rose is more of a “flim-flam” man.
When one looks at his record of service, Rep. Rose while running under the umbrella of a Democrat has voted mostly for GOP special interests. He has “kissed the bottoms” of such notable GOP “leaders” as Gov. Rick Perry, former House Speaker Tom Craddick and former toll czar legislator Rep. Mike Krusee.
In addition, Rose has actually done very little for the average residents of the counties he is supposed to serve; Blanco, Hays and Caldwell.
That being stated, I voted and supported Rose when he first ran against former Rep. Rick Green. I had thought that when Rose returned home from attaining his degree at Princeton University and then ran for office, his publicly sprouted words of doing what is best for the community were not merely lip-service and that he offered some long-needed new blood into an ailing and decaying legislative system.
While Rose publicly acclaims himself to be fiscally responsible he pushed for an extravagant Hays County road bond package that is an unconscionable effort and expense during our current economic crisis. Because of his efforts, along with those of his wealthy road builder campaign contributors and Hays County Commissioners Will Conley and Jeff Barton, the package that was voted-down by residents in the first election attempt was approved in the next election. The result is additional taxes for property homeowners at a time when they can least afford it. Is THAT fiscal conservatism by Rose? I think not.
While wealthy special interest campaign contributors smile whenever Rose enters a room, Patrick Rose is a huge disappointed for most residents. Since being a freshman Representative in the Texas House, Rose’s words have proven to mean very little over the past several years. Consequently, I stopped supporting him and urge voters to reconsider voting for another candidate.

It is that statement that most highlights the persona and career path of Patrick Rose. While we all had hoped for better, it is tragic that the young man can NOT be trusted. For the community good, please do not reelect Patrick Rose to another lackluster term.
