San Marcos High School’s Diamond Line dance team won “Best in Category” in all five of its routines, winning the “Grand Champion” status for its division at the Austin Drill Team Competition held at Rouse High School in Leander.
The Diamond Line was so impressive that the judges also honored the group with the “Applause Award” for technique.
The team now moves on to the Showmakers of America State Championship this weekend at Texas State.
The Austin Drill Team Competition is put on by Showtime International. The team was invited to the national competition by Showtime International’s director, but can’t make the schedule work this year. However, the team will be attend the Showtime national competition next year.
On Feb. 27, the Diamond Line will compete at the HTE Dance and Spirit Group Texas State Championship in Austin.Email | Print
