SMHS students advance to state-level PTA contest

San Marcos High School (SMHS) had three students advance to the state level Texas Parent Teacher Association (PTA) “Reflections” art contest.

Sophomore Chelsey R. Keeter placed in the visual art category. Placing in the photography category were junior Marcus Cruz and senior Lizzy K. Hoffman.

Every year, the national PTA sponsors a contest called “Reflections,” with students entering submissions under the categories of film, dance, musical composition, photography, visual arts and literature. The theme of the year is determined by student submissions from the previous year. The theme for 2009-2010 is “Beauty Is … ”

The submissions are first judged by the individual state PTAs. Texas PTA results will be posted in March. The winning submissions from the Texas PTA “Reflections” advance to the national level. Results from the national PTA will be announced in June or July of 2010.
