STAFF REPORT

The San Marcos CISD Student of the Month for February is Mendez Elementary School fifth grader James Saucedo. Superintendent Patty Shafer met with Saucedo to thank him for his exemplary attitude and congratulate him on his achievments.

Mendez Principal Sandra Reyes said Saucedo was chosen because he is a positive role model for all the students at Mendez.

“He is polite and respectful, supportive and well liked by his peers,” Reyes said. “James is eager to please and is a real gentleman who always lends a hand when he sees a need. He is a motivated scholar and always tries his best.”

Saucedo, the son of James Saucedo and Priscilla Mascorro, participates in University Interscholastic League (UIL) math and writing competitions, but he also enjoys outdoor activities. He especially likes playing baseball and football.

When asked by Shafer about his plans for college and career, Saucedo said wants to attend Texas State and become a teacher.

Reyes seized the moment and told Saucedo that she would be delighted to have him join her teaching staff at Mendez someday.
