Arts Commission seeks peer review panel

SUBMITTED REPORT

The City of San Marcos Arts Commission is seeking individuals and arts professionals from various disciplines to submit applications to be Peer Review Panelists.

Volunteer panelists assist the Arts Commission by evaluating and scoring applications for arts funding.

Selected panelists will be required to read funding applications, participate in a public review session, and score each applicant based on a set of pre-established criteria. The application scores and recommendations are forwarded to the Arts Commission for funding consideration.

Nominations for Peer Review Panelists may be made by any arts organization or individual. Interested individuals may also nominate themselves.

Panelists are selected based on the following criteria:

  • professional qualifications;
  • broad-based knowledge of arts and/or cultural field(s);
  • ability to work well in a group situation;
  • minority representation;
  • knowledge of non-profit and business practices;
  • representation of various arts and cultural disciplines;
  • representation of a cross-section of the arts and cultural organization group structure, including board members, administrative managers, artistic directors, education specialists, etc.
