Annual Trade Up event benefits community and students

STAFF REPORT

In the Texas State Quad Wednesday, the Student Chapter of the Alumni Association will hold its annual Trade Up event with a charitable twist as it combines the day with the Bobcats Back the Youth program.

Traditionally, Trade Up is a chance for students to trade a t-shirt from another university for a Texas State t-shirt. This year, students will have the opportunity to trade five canned goods or five school supplies for a shirt, as well. The food and school supplies will benefit the Greater San Marcos Youth Council (GSMYC).

The Texas State t-shirt features the student created slogan, “Loco for Boko,” on the back of each shirt.

The University Bookstore, a sponsor of the event,  will offer students prepackaged school supplies that can be traded for a Texas State shirt.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or while the shirts last.

The Student Chapter of the Alumni Association at Texas State is responsible for the creation of Bobcats Back the Youth with the help of the school’s newspaper, the University Star, and the University Bookstore as a way for Texas State students to give back to the San Marcos community.
