Texas State track teams head to Houston

After the Texas State men’s and women’s track teams each finished eighth out of 14 entrants at the Texas A&M Invitational two weeks ago, the track teams are back in action with the Houston Indoor Open Friday and Saturday.

Also in the Houston meet are Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Rice, Texas-Pan American, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Houston Baptist, Northwood, Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, Texas Southern, Texas Lutheran, Incarnate Word, Southwest Christian, Lamar, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Southern Miss and Texas-San Antonio.

Leading the way for the women’s team are high jumpers Valerie Hancock and Katherine Evans, who have posted the best jumps in the Southland Conference this winter. Ksenia Beburishvili ranks ninth in the league in the 800 meters.

For the men, Brandon Thomas and Kevin Aje both rank in the Southland Conference top ten in the 60-meter dash. Men’s pole vaulters Logan Cunningham and Logan Ferguson rank second and third, respectively, in the Southland Conference.
