The Texas State men’s basketball team played a game in unusual fashion Wednesday night before the biggest crowd of the season at Strahan Coliseum, leading from wire to wire in a 76-52 in against Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).

The Bobcats won the game thoroughly as they improved to 4-2 in the Southland Conference and 10-10 overall. UTSA dropped to 12-6 and 2-3.

Behind eight quick points from Cameron Johnson, the Bobcats jumped to a 20-4 lead with 13:29 left in the first half and held UTSA at bay.

The Roadrunners narrowed the gap to 41-35 at halftime and crept to within 47-46 with 15:05 left in the game.

The game stayed close as the Bobcats held only a 57-55 lead with 9:05 left, then tore off a 16-3 run for a 73-58 lead with 1:55 remaining.

Johnson led the Bobcats with 22 points and 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double. Ryan White added 14 points and John Ryback added 10 for the Bobcats. Texas State’s Emmanuel Bidias A’ Moute scored only seven points, but hauled down 15 rebounds as the Bobcats finished with a 37-30 advantage on the boards.
