The city of San Marcos has scheduled an orientation for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the San Marcos Conference Center for the dozens of citizens appointed to serve on city boards and commissions. A reception will follow the session at 5:30 p.m.
At the orientation, the new board members will be instructed in Robert’s Rules of Order, the city’s ethics code and open meetings.
The reception will honor the citizens who volunteer for boards, task forces and commissions.
Said San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz, “The participation of citizens in our decision-making processes is essential to effective government. The city council appreciates the dedication and important contributions of so many citizens through their service on our boards and commissions.”
This year, 60 citizens were appointed, by the city council, to serve as members on city boards and commissions.
