The City of San Marcos will recognize dozens of citizens appointed to serve on city boards and commissions at an orientation and reception Tuesday.
An orientation session is scheduled for 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the City of San Marcos Conference Center with a reception following at 5:30 p.m. The new board members will be instructed in Robert’s Rules of Order, the City’s Ethics Code, and Open Meetings.
Citizens who volunteer for boards, commissions and task forces will be honored at the reception.
“The participation of citizens in our decision-making processes is essential to effective government,” Mayor Susan Narvaiz said. “The city council appreciates the dedication and important contributions of so many citizens through their service on our boards and commissions.”
The San Marcos City Council has appointed some 60 citizens to serve as new members on city boards and commissions this year.
