On Jan. 19, San Marcos CISD be honor its school board with a reception in the Central Office Board Room, 501 South LBJ Drive, from 5:30-6 p.m., just before the board’s regular monthly meeting. The public is invited to attend.
Trustees Dr. Judy Allen (President), Jesse Ponce (Vice President), Kathy Hansen (Secretary), Peter Baen, David Castillo, David Chiu and Margie Villalpando will be recognized at the reception. School Board Recognition Month was instituted to highlight the contributions of the men and women who serve as trustees for Texas schools.
“As advocates for our children, school board members face difficult challenges,” San Marcos Superintendent Patty Shafer said. “These local citizens are our neighbors who are elected by the community to make critical decisions that directly affect the future of our youth. They work tirelessly, devoting countless hours to help ensure a quality education that will lead our students to success.”
San Marcos CISD trustees are responsible for an annual budget of more than $71 million, as well as overseeing 7,400 students, 1,080 employees and 13 campuses and learning sites.Email | Print
