STAFF REPORT

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recently presented a proclamation this week declaring Jan. 18 as “Martin Luther King Day” in San Marcos, in remembrance of the visionary civil rights leader.  On hand for the proceedings was Dunbar Heritage Association founder and past “Spirit of San Marcos” award winner Harvey Miller.

The Dunbar Neighborhood Association will sponsor a program at 11 a.m. on Jan. 18 at Hays County Courthouse. The event will include a march down LBJ Drive to MLK Drive to the Dunbar Center.

The Dunbar Heritage Association’s goal is to preserve the rich and storied African American Heritage of the community.
