She faces San Marcos physician Bert Cobb for the GOP nomination; incumbent Elizabeth Sumter and Pct. 2 Commissioner Jeff Barton are vying for the Democratic nod.

In an announcement statement, Jones said a majority of residents seek a county government that does not “over-regulate businesses and over-tax residents.”

“When I earn the privilege to serve as your Judge, I will apply rational property tax policy and transparent public money practices to Hays County government,” Jones said.

A business owner since 1989, Jones hold a Master’s degree in Applied Geography and a Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University. She said her educational background gives her insight into land and water management issues and her business experience would help her make government operations more efficient.

“Working together we can foster constructive communication to develop ways to curb the erosion of private property rights, provide groundwater solutions, and enact other initiatives to make Hays County an even better place to live, work and visit,” Jones said.
