Bobcats beat Panhandle State in men's hoops

Three Texas State players reached double figures as the Bobcats tacked up a 69-57 men’s basketball win Tuesday against Oklahoma Panhandle State at Strahan Coliseum.

The Bobcats improved to 6-8 and now head to the Southland Conference portion of their schedule, which begins Saturday at Texas-Arlington (1 p.m.). Panhandle State fell to 4-8.

Cameron Johnson led the Bobcats with 12 points and eight rebounds. Jonathan Sloan scored 10 points, as did Uriel Segura. Marcale Marshall of Panhandle State topped all scorers with 17 points.

The Bobcats put distance between themselves and the opposition in the last ten minutes of the first half, reaching a 34-23 lead at halftime. Texas State increased that lead to 44-26 before Panhandle’s 14-2 run made it 46-40 with 9:29 left. But the Bobcats took control in the next five minutes for a 64-46 lead with 4:58 left. The Bobcats then held on, though they scored only five points the rest of the way.
